Arts & Crafts
This style was started in order to produce classically beautiful objects that exhibited fine craftsmanship. The forms used were linear, honest, and without a lot of ornamentation. Heavy woodwork such as decorative beams and roof rafters are commonly seen along with fully trimmed out windows, hammered metals, stained glass, and floral fabrics. Colors commonly used are rich brick reds, hunter greens, rich browns, warm golds, and coppers. Notable artisans of this period are William Morris, Gustav Stickley and Charles and Henry Greene. |
